Frequently Asked Questions

What is Dedicated Internet Access (DIA)?

Dedicated Internet Access (DIA) is a premier Internet connectivity service that provides businesses with a dedicated, high-speed connection directly to the Internet. DIA offers unshared bandwidth and uptime guaranteed, ensuring consistent and reliable performance for all sizes and types of businesses.

Dedicated Internet Access is an unshared connection where each business has its own dedicated port, giving them more speed and control. DIA ensures that organizations receive exclusive bandwidth for consistent performance, higher speeds to support bandwidth-intensive applications.

Shared Internet Access, though inexpensive, provides inconsistent bandwidth depending on the Internet traffic at any given point in time, and it is not backed by SLAs. It also offers asymmetrical download and upload speeds, which can impact productivity when sharing files or collaborating with others.

Bandwidth is often mistaken for internet speed. Bandwidth is the volume of information that can be sent over a connection calculated as volume per second, such as megabits per second (Mbps). So bandwidth is how much information you receive every second.

Speed is how fast that information is received or downloaded. As an example, when you fill a bathtub with water, if the bathtub faucet has a wide opening, more water can flow at a faster rate than if it had a narrower faucet. Think of the amount of water as the bandwidth and the rate that the water flows as the speed.
